Biographical TV series have been made on Chanakya, Mirza Ghalib, Tipu Sultan, Shivaji, Rani of Jhansi, Jesus over the years.
So why not on Swami Dayananda Saraswati?
That’s a question that popped up in Swami Ramdev’s head (yes, India’s yoga guru and one of the two drivers of multinational fighter, Patanjali). And he voiced his interest in having a show on the great thinker and spiritual leader being made to some of his close associates.
For the last six months, a small coterie of creative talent has been working on making the story of Swami Dayananda come to life on the TV or OTT screen.
Delhi-based Neeraj Gupta of N.G. Productions has been entrusted with the task of fulfilling Swami Ramdev’s wish. However, it is not clear whether he will end up as the producer of the project finally.
Some test shoots also were done and sources reveal that model turned actor Shivendra Om Sainiyol has been shortlisted to play Swami Dayananda.
Currently, the show’s script is under development.
We reached out to Gupta but he was candid enough to state that it was early days to talk about anything.
However, industry sources reveal that Swami Dayananda – the series will run for 52 episodes only. Talks are on with the four GECs for a timeslot for the show. Among the front runners for the telecast is believed to be Sony Entertainment Television.
