Pracheen Chauhan and Nikhil Chaddha have couple of things in common. Firstly, they are playing brothers in Rajan Shahi’s show Swarg on Colors. Second, the duo can’t help but endure a feeling of so close yet so far.
Chauhan was Rajan’s first choice to play Angad in Bidaai while Chaddha was finalised to play the role of Naitik in Yeh rishta kya kehlata hai. The two shows have enabled Shahi to become the most successful producer today. While Shahi was firm on both choices, the channel allegedly rejected Pracheen as they needed a fresh face while they weren’t quite impressed with Chaddha. Shahi is known to be an actor’s producer so he didn’t disappoint Pracheen and Nikhil. So, he roped them in his third show Swarg.
It’s buzzed that Pracheen was left depressed on missing out in Bidaai as it turned out to be a smash hit. Unlike, Bidaai and Yeh Rishta.., Swarg has proved to be a dampener failing to garner expected TRPs. That all the more upset Pracheen.
When contacted, Pracheen said, “It’s true that I was the first choice to play Angad. However, I believe the channel wanted a fresh face and so I missed out on that role.”
Did this leave you depressed?
“I was disappointed but not depressed. After all, it was a prime time show on Star Plus. Bidaai went on to become the driver show for the channel. Anyway, there’s no point in cribbing. Some things aren’t meant to happen,” replied Chauhan.
Meanwhile, a diplomatic Chaddha had this to say, “It’s true that I was supposed to play Naitik’s role but certain things didn’t work out. I’m not the right person to comment as to what went wrong. Whatever happens is for the good and I’m fortunate to bag a role in Swarg. It’s not often that you find a show with three males playing the protagonists.”
Apparently, when reminded that the TRPs of Swarg haven’t been great vis-?-vis Bidaai and Yeh rishta… the duo offered a diplomatic reply, “TRPs is something which isn’t in our control. That’s for the channel to look into.”
Well, we understand where the duo is coming from but they surely are saying to each other ‘so close yet so far’.
