Aasif Sheikh is quite upbeat these days. First of all, this talented actor is all set to make a full-fledged entry in SAB TV's popular show Chidiya Ghar and secondly, this IPTA (social theatre) artist has just started the staging of his comic play Kiss Kiss Ko Pyaar Karu, which he has also co-written.

“We held our second screening last night. I always wanted to try my hands at comedy and before this I have played around with other genres. My last play was U Turn (social drama on old age romance) with Poonam Dhillon.”
He is also full of praise for his Kiss Kiss Ko co- star Nausheen Ali Sardar. “She is very good with work. She has done stage before.”
Coming to Chidiya Ghar Aasif says, “I love this show based animal instinct. I play the neighbour of the Narayan family. My character Puppy Singh handles household chores while my wife (new girl) goes out and earns living. He is not a gay and neither is he dominated by his wife. It is very interesting and funny character I am sure you will love.”
Aasif, who gained popularity as the flirty Vinod Verma from SAB TV's super hit show Yess Boss, further states, “I only like to work with this comedy channel for they are the only ones who have non female centric shows and I have always been given juicy characters. Plus the money is good and I have a great working equation with the entire team and the channel head (Anooj Kapoor, Business Head, SAB TV) .”
However, Aasif’s recent run with SAB TV has not really worked for his last two shows Ring Wrong Ring and Don’t Worry Chachu failed to make a mark on the TRP charts.
“The reason was the wrong time slot (7.30 pm). SAB TV has more male viewers; hence they don’t get back home so early. But there is no such trouble with Chidiya Ghar. I think what works for this Ashwini Dheer show is the fact that we have unique characters unlike most other comedy shows which are run of the mill. Hope we have many more similar shows which can change the face of Indian television comedy for the better.”
Way to go...Aasif!!!
