Sandeep Baswana lived the life of Ishwar Rawat, Chakor’s mentor and guardian to the hilt in Colors’ popular show, Udann (Guruodev Bhalla and Dhaval Gada).
With the character breathing his last in a bomb blast, thus finally succumbing to the cruel plan of Bhaiyyaji (Sai Ballal), Sandeep bid a heavy-hearted bye to the show, and to the entire cast with whom he liked sharing screen space.
But as an actor, Sandeep feels that he’s had a job well done, and is glad that the channel and makers did not feel the need to drag the story line by keeping his character alive.
Sandeep stated, “My death was always planned. Even when I signed the show, I knew that the character will be taken to great heights, and will become one of the prime characters in the life of Chakor, post which he will make an exit. In simple words, Ishwar’s death will take the story to a different level. Every time Chakor has fallen in trouble, Ishwar has been there to save her. If the trend would have been continued, it would have looked monotonous. I am happy at the way I have been utilized in the show.”
On his Udann journey, the actor said, “The best part about my character is that I played a government officer. I come from a family full of government officers, and I have been brought up seeing their disciplined life. I have seen them work and behave to various situations. Such people are usually family oriented, and it is their job that defines them. Hence, everything about Ishwar was so very easy for me to play. There have been instances where I have taken nuances from my father, who is a retired judge. He has witnessed cases of bonded labourers in Haryana and I got to learn a lot from him.”
Sandeep who has done the lover-boy roles, comedy, and also the serious roles with utmost ease found this character of Ishwar Rawat to be one of his best ones. “This role has given me a lot, and it will remain very close to my heart.”
When asked about the attribute that Sandeep will take home from Ishwar, the actor averred, “I will take home the fact that one can lead a joyous life if he is honest in his ways. Once you start to be dishonest to your work, you can sense that trouble crept into your life. It’s always important to derive courage, and this will enable the person to fight any big battle.”
On his next plans, Sandeep told us, “I am going on a holiday for a month or so. I have already bagged a show, but I cannot talk about it right now. So you will see me active again very soon.”
When asked on whom he will miss the most, Sandeep quipped, “I will miss working with the entire unit of Udann. We had such a great bunch of actors. Sai Ballal, Rajiv Kumar brought in so much of experience. Spandan Chaturvedi has always been a delight to work with. All the kids in the show are so natural actors that the moment you see them, you begin to think that they are gifted.”
As a parting note, Sandeep wanted to request the avid viewers of Udann to keep watching the show. “The best part of Udann is that the writers and producers have utilized my character to the maximum. The show will remain big and will get through lot many twists and turns. The show is certainly in good hands, and you must watch it as the makers explore new avenues in terms of storytelling.”
Sandeep, we wish you all the very best…
