The Peshwa battle: &TV ‘backs out’; Sony TV to showcase ‘Bajirao Mastani’ love saga

Sony TV to showcase

Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s epic story for the silver screen, Bajirao Mastani and its success story enticed the small screen biggies to work on the concept and aim at winning laurels in the form of huge numbers.

As reported exclusively by Tellychakkar.com (Read here: The ‘Peshwa’ tussle between Sony and &TV), not one but two major GECs, Sony Entertainment Television and &TV have been working on the idea.

However, putting its foot forward, &TV went on to release a teaser of Bajirao Mastani, thus asserting its supremacy on the concept.

The move jostled the programming team at Sony, is what we were told. It was a hit, but not a knock-out punch. Sony, instead of backing out, continued to work on the project, resilient and defiant in its will to stay on course to showcase one of the biggest love stories in Indian history.

Sony commissioned the project to Sphere Origins, headed by Sunjoy Wadhwa, and &TV were racking brains with Alind Srivastava and Nisaar Parvez of Peninsula Pictures (helming Vishkanya on Zee TV currently).

So what’s the latest update on the Peshwa battle? Who has raced ahead and who has taken a back seat?

We are here to spill the beans.

Our credible source informs: “The Peshwa battle was expected. Though &TV launched its teaser first, Sony TV continued to work on the project and were miles ahead in its development stage when compared to &TV. Considering the probable content clash and its aftermath, &TV has scrapped its idea.”

That’s it. Bajirao Mastani will beam on Sony in time to come.

Furthermore, the buzz is that &TV might now be working on a big-scale mythological show instead.

We buzzed channel spokespersons at & and Sony, but did not get any revert.

Messages to producers Alind Srivastava, Nisaar Parvez and Sunjoy Wadhwa remained unanswered.

Well, with this the Peshwa battle fizzles out prematurely. Now let’s look forward to the great presentation of the historical on Sony TV.
