There are several other ways to make content magnificent apart from roping in Bollywood stars: Gaurav Banerjee, General Manager, Star Plus

Gaurav Banerjee, General Manager, Star Plus
At a time when most GECs are bending backward to accommodate big Bollywood stars in their fiction formats, spending huge monies on getting them on board has become a regular practice for channels like Colors and Sony Entertainment Television. But Star Plus, the leader of the GEC pack has a different take on the same. Observed its General Manager, Gaurav Banerjee, while talking to the media on the sidelines of the launch press conference of their more urban late night show Ye Hai Mohobbatein (Balaji Telefilms), “While I do not want to comment on the ROI (Return Over Investment) aspect of such huge investments by rival channels, I will say that all we need to do is plough in more financial resources in content making across the board. And having said that, I don’t believe that splurging huge amounts of money in getting big Bollywood stars is the only way forward.” “We have worked with the best of them in shows like Nach Baliye and Satyamev Jayete as well and respect them. The point is that we believe, that we can also spend the extra moolah on good writing, getting better acting talent and shooting more outdoors across the length and breadth of our country. There are several other ways to make content magnificent. We are already working on the same philosophy with Mahabharat. No other show has been mounted on such a lavish scale,” concluded Gaurav.
