Bade Achhe Lagte Hain- Balaji Telefilms’ Ekta Kapoor pulled a smart one with this one airing on Sony Entertainment Television. When many doubted and raised eyebrows pertaining to mature love stories being accepted by masses, the chemistry between Ram Kapoor (Ram) and Priya (Sakshi Tanwar) went on to become an absolute winner. And the magic continues till date…
Balika Vadhu- The show (produced by Sphere Origins) completed 1000 successful episodes recently, and it has been entertaining masses for years together now on Colors. The soap touched new heights of popularity in last few weeks with Anandi-Shiv shaadi sequence. It has been one of the top rated shows on the TRP chart for ages now. Respect!!!
Bigg Boss- The biggest and most watched reality show on Indian television produced by Endemol and airing on Colors, the latest season, alag che (season 6), has indeed been a joy ride for viewers. And with Imam’s entry in the house, the fun element doubled, and tripled. Let’s wait and watch now who will be declared winner on January 12 (2013).
Crime Patrol- Crime Patrol (Optimystix) airing on Sony Entertainment Television, has opened new doors in terms of shows based on crime related plot. It came, conquered and paved the way for flurry of other shows with identical plot on diverse channels. TRPs have always patted the project’s back and one cannot, but praise Anoop Soni for his superb anchoring skills.
Diya Aur Baati Hum- How does it feel to be on top all the time? Ask the cast and crew of Star Plus’ Diya Aur Baati Hum (Shashi Sumeet Mittal Productions Pvt Ltd). Yes, the show has been on top in the number game for many weeks now (it saw a slump recently but it is okay). Viewers all across the globe love the impressive chemistry between Suraj and Sandhya. This is one show which definitely deserves a dekko night after night…days after days.
Devon…Ke Dev Mahadev- Mythological shows have never seen such degree of popularity in Indian television since Ramayan and Mahabharat yesteryear days. But with Mohit Raina coming in the picture, sorry no offence, but the word sexiness has got attached with Lord Shiva. The cool and impressive special effects in the show have always won hearts of the masses. All kudos to makers, Triangle Film Company, for gifting viewers such a wonderful show.
Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon- Now…this one had to be on the list as it had one of the most celebrated and loved jodis of Indian television… namely Arnav and Kushi… played by Barun Sobti and Sanaya Irani, respectively.
Produced jointly by 4 Lions Films and IMRC Entertainment (Star Plus)…the creatives weaved a wonderful love story which will be remembered for years to come for sure. And there was a lot of uproar when the show went off air abruptly with Barun quitting. Fans are hopeful that the project will return with season 2 in the near future.
Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa- One of the most celebrated celebrity dance reality shows on Colors (BBC Worldwide Media), this season (5) of the franchise was full of glitz, glamour and gusto. Viewers saw some amazing dance performances and all in all every contestant put up a great show. Gurmeet Choudhary was declared the ultimate winner.
Satyamev Jayate- He came, he spoke and he conquered. Yes, we are talking about super talented and helluva actor-anchor Aamir Khan. With his show Satyamev Jayate (Star Plus and produced by Aamir Khan Productions) he managed to stir a revolution of sorts, and all kudos to him for the issues he dealt with in the show. We can indeed say that Satyamev Jayate has been a revelation of 2012.
DID Li’l Masters- If it’s TRPs, it’s DID Li’l Masters. Yes, in this Zee TV show (Frames) the little legs showed some real promise and talent and wowed audiences all over the globe.
Here we would also like to mention that Colors’ Na Bole Tum Na Maine Kuch Kaha (Sunshine Productions) also chalked out a good concept and poignant performances. Madhubala (Nautanki Telefilms and BAG Films) also climbed up in the popularity ladder and Channel V’s Gumrah (Lost Boy Productions), with its suave and stylish execution, managed to carve a niche for itself. Of course, one cannot forget Sony Entertainment's Kaun Banega Crorepati anchored by Mr Bachchan. The show continued to engage audiences. Kudos to the Sony team!
The 1000 club- In this year, four long running shows hit the 1000 episodes mark. Yes, we are talking about Star Plus’ Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai (Director’s Kut), SAB TV’s Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah (Neela Telefilms), Colors’ Uttaran (FilmFarm Productions) and Balika Vadhu (Sphere Origins).
