“Truant” Vikrant Massey quits Bindass’ Yeh Hai Aashiqui

Feathers have ruffled a bit on the sets of Bindass’ Yeh Hai Aashiqui (Lost Boy Productions and BBC Worldwide Productions). The latest that we have learnt is that the show’s host, Vikrant Massey, has decided to bring out the “quit” card from his pocket. Let’s unwrap the story bit by bit, to make matters simple. A source working in one of the above production houses shared with us that Vikrant has been acting way too pricey and has resorted to truant means of bunking work. Here’s the source’s version. “Producer Vikas Gupta (Lost Boy) is very close to Vikrant. Vikas is the one who fought tooth and nail to convince the channel to hire Vikrant as the host. All was fine until Vikant gained more popularity via Lootera and Qubool Hai (Zee TV). Suddenly his ways changed and he started bunking work and did not show up on days when he was supposed to shoot for Yeh Hai Aashiqui.” On further prodding the source, he/she said that on many occasions due to Vikrant’s sudden absence, cost of production went up. “Things turned difficult. On the day of his shoot, Vikrant just called up and said, ‘Yaar, aaj busy hoon, kal karte hain’. Everything went for a toss. He said he is busy with Qubool Hai, but when we checked on the Qubool Hai sets, he was not there.” The same source also added that Vikrant’s priorities have changed and he is eyeing films now post Lootera and on days when he’s supposed to shot for Yeh Hai Aashiqui, he auditions for movie roles. Serious allegations, we must admit. Hence, it was obvious to check with Vikrant before publishing the article. Said Vikrant in his usual rugged and sexy tone: “I agree to most of the things. I did miss some of my shooting dates for Yeh Hai Aashiqui. But I won’t call myself truant. It was not done deliberately. Qubool Hai is a daily and my need and commitment towards the show is more. And with the recent fight scenes and other active plots in this Zee show, shooting has become very hectic. Furthermore, it is also true that I am eyeing more films. It was unfortunate that I could not give time to Yeh Hai Aashiqui and keeping the show’s future and progress in mind, I have decided to quit and pave way for someone who can do justice as the host of the show. Anyways, my contract period with the show has also come to an end.” So has he officially quit and would it affect his relationship with Vikas? “Yes, I have conveyed my decision to the concerned persons but I don’t think my choice will affect my relationship with Vikas as we have known each other for a long time and we don’t let professional issues affect our personal rapport. I wish Yeh Hai Aashiqui all the luck and success in the future.” Adding on to the drama, we have learnt that the production house is looking for a replacement but the channel is keen on retaining Vikrant and he might also get a remuneration hike to continue being a part of the Bindass project. We tried reaching Producer Vikas Gupta but he remained out of reach. Tellychakkar.com will keep a close eye on further developments!!!
