One man, who will always be remembered for his dance moves and remarkable singing talent, is Michael Jackson. While the pop star was universally revered and loved, at the same time he was surrounded by a lot of controversies. Since the legend was born on 29 August 1958 hence we decided to talk to a few TV celebrities to know their thoughts about this evergreen star and also if any of our Indian celebrities can get somewhere close to him. Roopal Tyagi, aka Gunjan of Zee TV's Sapne Suhane Ladakpan Ke, is someone who made Vidya Balan dance on her finger tips as an assistant choreographer in a song from Bhool Bhulaiya. Talking about this legend Roopal says, “He was one of the most unique dancers and whether one admits it or not, every dancer tries to copy him at least once in his/her lifetime and so did I. I always tried the famous moon walk but could not get it properly, so once I recorded my normal walk and saw it in a reversed manner (laughs). Only after trying for almost a year, I finally got it correct. I am sure we will not get such a legend again. There is only one MJ and will always be. To me Prabhu Deva is the next unique dancer to mention.” Prerna Wanvari, aka Raveena of Colors’ Parichay, who is very passionate about dancing, comments, “The passing away of MJ is a great loss to the entertainment industry worldwide, especially to dancers who looked up to him. I still remember I was watching "This Is It" and I couldn't stop the tears rolling down my cheeks.” After a small pause, she added, “Even now, I keep trying the moon walk but haven't got it right yet. However, I will continue trying it till I master it. And I don’t think there can ever be another MJ again.” States, Bollywood’s item girl and the TV industry’s tantrum queen Rakhi Sawant states, “He was the God of dance. May the almighty bless his soul. We have all grow up seeing his dance albums, Thriller, Moonwalker, Dangerous, etc. I am greatly inspired by his dancing and I feel that I will reach a small per cent of what he achieved someday. In fact, I still regret not being around, during his last performance in Mumbai.” Angad Hasija, who was last seen in Ram Milaayi Jodi, observes, “The world of song and dance is empty without the king of pop. I simply loved all his dance numbers. His contribution towards world peace (We are the world and Heal the world) and the environment have also been noted. But, the way he died was quite sad. A man so rich, was also left facing financial ruin. But I rather look at the positive side. I was there during his Mumbai concert and was super charged after seeing his superb performances.” Rithvik Dhanjani, who is seen as Arjun in Pavitra Rishta and is currently doing Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa on Colors avers, “I love Michael Jackson and want to wish him a belated happy birthday since I am one of his biggest fans. The best song of his that comes in my mind is ‘Black or White’ and also ‘Moonwalk’. I tried performing on his number in Jhalak too. “I had been to one of his concert in Dubai but I was only eight then and I wasn’t aware of Michael Jackson. But, today when I look back, I have some amazing memories. In today’s time if you ask me to compare someone of us with him it would definitely be Remo D’souza. He is an icon.” Shares, Ojaswi Oberoi, who was seen in Aasman Se Aage, “Well, his birthday should be considered as World Dance Day because, MJ, through his sheer dedication and talent, made dance a synonym to his name. I wish he was alive. I am sure even in his next birth, he will be serving this very art form. Legends are born only once, still if I have to name someone who can be our industry’s MJ, it will be none other than Shahid Kapoor.”
