TV is a great environment to be in - Rajeev Singh

Rajeev Singh, the talented model cum actor who rose to fame after winning Gladrags Manhunt India in the year 2001 is happy with his first television stint - Rajan Shahi’s Aur Pyaar Ho Gaya on Zee TV. Essaying the role of Suket Khandelwal, father to the female lead Avni (Kaanchi Singh) on the show, Rajeev feels that TV has evolved and he has paced his entry into the small screen at the right time. Says the actor, “TV is a great environment to be in, that too when you get a role where you can very well justify the character given to you. Rajan Shahi has a great reputation and when he offered this role of playing a young father to grown-ups, I readily agreed. We have a very friendly working environment and I am blessed to be part of the show.” Rajeev who is India’s first Mr. World has modelled in many countries. His first Bollywood project was with Shilpa Shetty in the movie Khamoshh… Khauff Ki Raat, directed by Deepak Tijori. Talking about his journey, Rajeev tells us, “After having modelled in many countries post winning Gladrags, I wanted to pursue acting. So in 2005, I shifted base to Los Angeles where I did a course in acting and film making at the New York Film Academy. Later, I was part of plays organized by Victory Theater and Beverly Hills Play House. In 2010, I came back to India and opened hotels and construction sites in Jaipur. This was when I wanted to get back to acting. However, I was not looking at TV as a medium. But when the offer to be part of Rajan Shahi’s show came to me, I got convinced to enter TV.” Rajeev shares a very good working equation with his co-actors on the set. “All the actors in the show are very supportive. I share a great rapport with everyone, especially with Rajeev Vermaji who essays my father.” On sharing screen space with Reena Kapoor, the actor states, “She is a very good actress. I have never seen such a humble and down to earth person in my life. It is a nice experience working with her.” Rajeev who is from a traditional Rajput family is married to actor turned singer Sanober Kabir. It was love at first sight for them. The actor explains, “Even though I am a Rajput and she is a Muslim, our families are quite travelled and learned. Sanober and I have a similar thought process and we gelled from day one. We met for the first time in the year 2007 in Goa. And you will not believe, we have been together from that very first day. We got married in 2010, and now we are expecting our first baby in May (2014).” We wish Rajeev great success!!
