MUMBAI: Vishal Malhotra is one of the most popular film and television actors. He started his career in the entertainment industry at a very young age. He was just 18 when he turned host for Disney Club. And after that, there was no looking back for him. Post that, he bagged his first-ever acting project Hip Hip Hurray. The show made him a household name.

In addition to Hip Hip Hurray, he is known for shows like Dhoom Machaao Dhoom, Vicky &Vetaal, Kya Mast Hai Life season 2, amongst others. The actor also climbed the ladder of success with his very first Bollywood film, Ishq Vishk. To date, Vishal is popular among the masses. In an interview with Times Now Digital, Vishal spoke about his acting journey, highs and lows of his career and much more.

The actor said that he had no clue Hip Hip Hurray would become an iconic show. "Honestly, no. That is one of the recipes and ingredients of success. When you are doing something and enjoying it so much, you aren't really aware of the success and results of that. I had no clue that it (Hip Hip Hurray) is going to be such an iconic show. With God's grace, I have been blessed with many such iconic characters. None of these characters I have thought of in that sense at all. I used to just go on the sets and enjoy. The moment I started getting aware of how do I make this character iconic is when it didn't work. The magic goes away,” Vishal said.

Further, Vishal mentioned that doing films was a piece of cake for him. He told the portal, “It was not tough at all. Because of the training that I took through my shoots, doing films was a piece of cake for me. At that time infrastructure was very bad, we did not have vanity vans, special makeup people, we should travel by trains and buses, we have gone through a lot. We used to shoot 2 episodes in a day. We would start the shoot at 5 am in the morning and finish at 11 in the night. Now, we go at 9 in the morning and have a beautiful vanity van. We have people running around us. We do one shot, one scene, I get bored sometimes. 90 percent of the time you are not doing anything. 10 percent of the time, you are shooting. And I am the kind of guy who wants to keep going. It was not tough not all, I was enjoying my time. It was not about whether the film will become a hit or a failure. It was not about the money, glamour it was about having and enjoying time with people around."

The actor opines that nepotism exists in all kinds of industries. "There have been times when I have lost roles to people who belong from the industry. I don't want to name them but those were big disappointments. It feels bad when you are replaced at the end moment. But, that happens in every industry. If you are an industrialist, 9 out of 10 times, you are going to give the reign of power to your daughter or your son. Nepotism is prevalent in all forms of industries,” Vishal said.
