A page from the personal diary of Parull Chaudhary Well it’s been a tough journey from where I began to where I am today. Just out of college… I was always creatively inclined and good at art so took up a jewellery designing course and started working part-time in a jewellery store. In college, I was always told to try my hand at modelling but I never took it seriously until my mum told me to try it. We had no idea about modeling. I had no friends with a modelling background. So we approached a photographer who had his studio nearby. His name was Suvo Das. Of course, the fee for the portfolio was exorbitant. I knew it was a big risk while my friends were in safe jobs I was stepping in an unknown territory with stiff competition and exploitation at various levels. I had to do everything I had never done before. On the day of the shoot I felt like Alice in Wonderland… I was stressed out and how. I knew I was at the wrong place but pushed myself knowing how much money had gone plus I knew my mum had hopes from me…at that point I realised she had more belief in me than I had in myself. To my surprise I got a prestigious assignment within three days…work started flowing and I quit my job. I was criticized on just about everything one can imagine. But I didn’t give up. I participated in Gladrags 2003 and was the second runner up making Delhi proud. I didn’t know that the best was still to come until I got a call from Gladrags again. I was to represent my country at Ms Tourism International to be held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in 2003, which had 35 countries participating. December 31, 2003 was the highest career point in my life when I won the title of Ms Friendship, which was decided on voting between the contestants and made it to the top five. There has been no looking back ever since. I knew I was here for good. Then as I moved up in my career I knew the next step was Mumbai. Since I was a model I was offered very glamorous roles that I wasn’t comfortable doing but I just kept the faith in myself and here I am today…I have created a space for myself and people have noticed me and I am getting the credit too. Have done two films and worked with Jagmohan Mundra, Anupam Kher, Tanushree Dutta, Celina Jaitly, Abhimanyu Singh, Rohit Roy. In television too I have worked with the best…and to sum it all I couldn’t be anywhere but here. Now, when I look back at all the experience I have gathered, I look forward with hope and confidence. Never give up is my mantra.
