‘Ek Tha Chander Ek Thi Sudha’, based on the popular Hindi novel by Dharamvir Bharati was slated to be a big-ticket show on Life OK. The show produced by Ashwini Dheer’s Garima Productions was believed to be shot on a larger-than-life scale in realistic locations, thus giving it a ‘filmy’ treatment.
Tellychakkar.com had earlier exclusively reported about Rahil Azam essaying the role of the protagonist Chander. We had also come up with more exclusive news about ‘Cadbury’ girl Umang Jain playing the central role of Sudha.
For the uninitiated, the show went on floor in January (2014), and the channel was all set for a huge promotional activity followed by its launch in April (2014). The unit also had rigorous outdoor schedules in Banaras, Baroda and Kashmir.
Well, all this has already come to common notice, but what we have got to know now is something shocking.
As per reliable sources, the shoot of the show has been stalled from the month of April, with no further activity happening.
So what’s the exact reason for this delay in launch, that too when this was supposed to be Life OK’s trump card this summer?
Here is some exclusive information for your readers.
A reliable and well-placed source states, “The research team felt that Umang Jain, the female lead on the show fell short of expectations, and did not exactly fit into the role, as they had conceived it. This brought an abrupt stop to the shoot that was already in full-swing.”
The recent development that we hear is that, few scenes with Umang have been re-shot recently, but the decision is yet to be taken by the channel.
As we know, the show also has two other female leads in Shweta Salve and Aditi Tailang, with Rajendra Gupta and Rohitashv Gour slated to play prime roles.
Now, with news making headlines about seasoned actress Shweta Salve due to enter the Bigg Boss house (Colors), we really wonder how the Life OK show will pan out, in case the actress chooses to move out of the big-ticket project. Also, talks in the industry suggest that Rahil Azam has been offered few big projects.
It is to be observed here that the show has been in the making for more than a year now, and the prime cast has been stuck to the project for a long time. Hence, the need to move out and take up a good project would definitely be in their minds.
With this much of information, we decided to call the actors concerned to know about the exact reason for the show’s delay.
When contacted, Shweta Salve firmly told us, “I am out of town, and I will be able to talk to you only after I get free.” (Perhaps, Shweta has already gotten into the mood of Bigg Boss, after signing on the dotted lines, and wants to keep away from media).
Aditi Tailang could not be contacted, despite repeated attempts. Same was the case with Rahil Azam, as he remained out of town. We also could not get in touch with Umang.
We reached out to Ajit Thakur, General Manager, Life OK to get a clear picture on the delay in launch of Ek Tha Chander Ek Thi Sudha, but did not get any revert till the time we filed the story.
Our efforts to get in touch with Producer Ashwini Dheer too remained futile.
With Rahil and Shweta contemplating new offers, and with the decision on Umang remaining pending, will this Life OK ever see daylight? If so, will it have to go through a complete revamp in terms of its casting?
Guess only time will give us the answers.
