You will definitely find a man like Niranjan in your neighbourhood too - Manish Wadhwa

The talented actor Manish Wadhwa, who is seen playing Niranjan Agnihotri in Star Plus’ Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon… Ek Baar Phir, has taken viewers by surprise with his villainous change in the last few episodes. The show produced by Sphere Origins has been witnessing moments where the man has been hitting his wife, with a feeling that a woman is nothing more than a door mat. The actor who is known by his role of Chanakya spoke to us about the change in his persona in the show. Manish averred, “It is a very different change and I am having fun playing this amazing character. He is so dangerous and negative but mazaa aata hai playing it as an actor. I recently got nominated in a TV award show which shows how much people are enjoying the character.” So did he have an idea about the change in his character? “Of course I was clearly told about the same at the start. Basically I took up this show for I was completely amazed by the character of Niranjan. This is the real story of the show which was to come forward in just about 10 episodes, but with the romantic angle taking time to get established, the track was pushed ahead. And I am surprised how much people like the track,” he shared. Further the actor added, “It’s strange that in a time when kitchen politics rule the TV screens people are enjoying a man being a villain at home. Such characters are more interesting as being the head of the house he has to keep a garb over his negative shade when he is out in public and then turn a devil as soon as he returns home.” When asked whether he feels that such men exist in the society, Manish quickly said, “Yes, there are loads of them out there. People might feel that such characters on TV encourage men to put down women, but I feel such men actually inspire writers to sketch out such characters. Grab a newspaper or check out the news channel, and you will find out how common this issue is in our country. You will definitely find a man like Niranjan in your neighbourhood too.” And does he feel he will get type cast as a villain after portraying this role, the actor defended saying, “That is the sad part for an actor in our country for people tend to expect similar roles from us. But to widen our talent and growth we need to don different roles and I just can’t tie myself in a genre or character. The actor wins only through his versatility.” Finally when we questioned him how does he get into the skin of the character being so humble in nature, Manish laughed, “I just go through my scenes in depth and understand the character. Rest I feel that an actor needs to forget that there is a camera in front of him and be as real as possible. One shouldn’t worry about how they look when emoting; I guess that takes away the charm of natural acting.” Well said, Manish!
