Despite tall promises, a number of our new Hindi GECs have found the going tough. Unable to get the desired result, Zee Next has opted for a revamp. Zee Next was launched on Dec 17.
Confirming this news Zee TV’s Marketing Head Tarun Mehra says, “Yes, it’s true that we will be revamping Next.” Tarun refused to comment on the programs facing the axe.
While Tarun kept mum, a source says, “Jhoome Jiiya Re and Ek Thi Rajkumari are the only two dailies that will remain intact while others like Simply Sapney, Yaha Ke Hum Sikander, and Pyar, Ishq Aur Mohabbat will be bumped off. Those that will survive will also undergo changes in track.”
We called up an actor from one of these show who said, “I too have heard that barring Jhoome.. and Ek Thi Rajkumari, the other shows are being replaced. The problem is not per se with these shows but the channel itself, which lacked in promotion. Even after few months after its launch, a majority of the cable household were not receiving Zee Next.”
When contacted Rajiv Bakshi, supervising director of Simply Sapney said, “We haven’t received any communication from the channel as yet. Despite repeated attempts, officials from Yaha Ke Hum Sikander and Pyar, Ishq.. remained unavailable for comment.
Let’s wait and watch what happens next on Next.
