Zee TV’s Ek Tha Raja Ek Thi Rani to bid adieu on 4th July

Set against a fascinating backdrop of the lifestyles, motivations, hopes, aspirations, insecurities and mysteries that shroud the Indian royalty of the 1940s, Zee TV’s magnum opus period drama ‘EK Tha Raja Ek Thi Rani’ struck a chord with television audiences soon after it premiered on 27th July 2015. It transported viewers across the golden decades of the 50’s, 60’s, 70’s and the 80’s, explored the dynamics of all that transpired behind the four walls of imperial palaces and the love stories of the descendants of royalty through the 60’s and 70’s, presented interesting characters and engaging tracks that had audiences hooked. The show now bids adieu to its ardent fans on 4th July  2017.

After a glorious run of over 2 years and 500 episodes, the entire cast and crew of Ek Tha Raja Ek Thi Rani bid farewell to their loyal viewers with a heavy heart. The team of Zee TV’s Ek Tha Raja Ek Thi Rani wrapped up the shoot on 27th June and the lead actors Eisha Singh and Sartaj Gill recollected their fondest memories and thanked everyone who were a part of the show.  

Ek Tha Raja Ek Thi Rani ends at the peak of its popularity. Its loyal viewer base was glued to the show for its fine narrative, intriguing plot, royal  look and well-defined characters played convincingly by some very talented and veteran actors like Anita Raj (As Rajmata) and Surekha Sikri (As Badi Rani maa), gorgeous Drashti Dhami (As Rani Gayatri) and Siddhant Karnick (As Raja Indravardan Singh Deo) in the first season. While post leap, it captured Raja Indravardan Singh Deo and Rani Gayatri’s daughter Rani’s story (Played by Eisha Singh) and her dynamics with her love interest Raja (Kaal’s son) played by Sartaj Gill.

The lead actress and actor Eisha and Sartaj expressed their feelings saying, ‘We are thankful to all our fans for having showered us with immense love and adulation. We have loved every bit of this wonderful journey and are going to miss shooting for the show. We will miss all our co-actors and friends that we  have made on the sets. The roles of Raja and Rani have made us so popular that wherever we go, people instantly call us as Raja and Rani. I think for any actor, this is certainly a big achievement.’

The last episode which will be telecast on 4th July will see Rani (Eisha Singh) and Raja (Sartaj Gill) being blessed with two daughters – Ridhi and Sidhi. At a very young age, Vasundhra kidnaps their elder daughter Ridhi and takes her away. In a frantic attempt to find their elder daughter, Raja and Rani both die in a car accident. After 18 years, when the younger daughter, Sidhi is ready to take on the throne, Rajmata narrates the story of her parents to her. On the day of the crowning ceremony, Sidhi who has just discovered her parents’ truth refuses to take on the throne and vows to find her elder sister so that she can take her rightful place on the throne as the heir of Amerkot.
