MUMBAI: IPL 2025 has been picking up the energy lately and fans are now excited for the upcoming matches. Every team has been playing unexpectedly and it’s keeping the audience even more engaged.

Recently, Punjab Kings (PBKS) suffered a defeat against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in Match 37 of IPL 2025. RCB avenged their earlier loss to Punjab with a convincing seven-wicket victory in Mullanpur.

While the cricketers were having some sportsmanship spirit, the fans forgot about it and unfortunately it created some mess for Shreyas Iyer’s sister. The mess only exposes the fans’ hypocrisy and that’s the sad truth.

Well, Shreyas Iyer’s sister, Shresta Iyer, recently addressed online trolls after. Following the match, Shresta revealed she was targeted on social media, with some fans blaming her for Punjab's loss simply because she was present to support her brother.

Taking to Instagram, Shresta criticized the toxic mindset of those blaming players' families, stating that supporting a team, win or lose, is part of true fandom. She emphasized that her presence at matches—both physically and virtually—has always been about positivity, and no amount of trolling would stop her from supporting her brother and his team.

This isn’t the first time that fans have shown their misogyny towards female members of their favourite cricketer’s life. There are times when Anushka Sharma is targeted by fans too. The sad truth here is while cricketers show sportsmanship spirit and their great bonding with each other, fans of these cricketers clearly show the lack of manners and rather expose their own patriarchal nature.

Meanwhile, a light moment unfolded as Virat Kohli celebrated in front of Shreyas Iyer, sparking playful banter.

RCB now sit third in the standings, with PBKS just behind in fourth.
