MUMBAI :One of the most well-known basketball players – LeBron James – has officially become the NBA’s all-time leading scorer, overtaking one of the greatest basketball players of all time - Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. LeBron surpassed Kareem’s score of 38,387 points, which he kept for over 38 years, with a new score of 38, 388 points. This happened during the game between the Los Angeles Lakers and the Oklahoma City Thunder.
The four-time MVP hit a fadeaway jumper over OKC Thunder player Kenrich Williams to score his 38,388 points with 10.9 seconds left in the third quarter. LeBron James had scored 20 points in the first half of the game, and by the third quarter, he had scored 34 points with 54.8. Fans were already hyped up and were on their feet halfway through the mentioned time.

James raised his hands after breaking the record, while the crowd went berserk and chanted 'MVP'. After he scored the record-breaking shot, he was surrounded by family and friends on centre court.
Former LA Lakers player Kareem held the record for all-time leading scoring since April 5, 1984, seven months before LeBron James was born. ‘The Captain’ broke Wilt Chamberlain’s record of highest scorer on the mentioned date and has held that record till 2023, for over 38 years. Everyone, including the former basketball star, probably assumed that the record would remain unbroken forever.

Even many celebrities took to their social media handle to congratulate LeBron on his win, including popular rapper Drake. He shared a photo of him with ‘King James’ and penned a congratulatory note for him. He wrote, “Congratulations my brother @kingjames, they probably will have something new to say tmrw but for now enjoy the praise which is like silence to us.”
