Now, the makers are coming back with the second season of the series with the cast of the season one coming back and with an addition of Akshay Oberoi to the cast. The season two of the OTT series will be made available to stream from 3rd May on ZEE5.

In an exclusive interview with Akshay Oberoi prior to the release of Broken News season 2 on ZEE5, the versatile actor opened up on his initial innocent days as a Rajshri hero to being cast as wicked, layered characters despite his sweet appearance.

Akshay Oberoi said, “I had no idea how that happened kyuki meri pehli film itni meethi film thi na who Rajshri Productions ki film. I think what happened, personally Sometimes you go back, see destiny is a way of shaping your life and you’re just a vessel and you go around you do your thing and somethings work somethings don’t work but I do remember after doing that film maine kaha yaar mujhe ye sweet wale kirdaar nahi karne hai. I said that out like and then I did a film called Fitoor which led to Gurgaon because like the makers Ajay Rai was the Ep on Fitoor and Mukesh Chhabra had casted me for it and Mukesh and Ajay Rai were producing Gurgaon. Toh I remember they looked at the camera, and Mukesh said tu idhar aa baat karni hai toh main aaya. They said yaar ek script hai I don’t know tu karega. It was Gurgaon and that was the first time I think somebody saw me that like iski aankhein aisi hai we can make him like this also. I think everyone knows he one of the top casting people and he can see something that nobody else can. I think Shankar Raman, even more the director of Gurgaon saw that. Gurgaon led to all those things, led to Gaslight, led to Madam Chief Minister, led to Flesh and I think directors are the ones who can really shape you so same Siddharth Anand produced Flesh, then he gave me such a beautiful innocent character like Bash. So it’s also the director who shapes your career. I think I’ve been very fortunate because you are right, I am a certain way, you know apni tafeer bhi nahi karni chahiye aur tareef bhi nahi kar raha hu, I’m very naïve, innocent and kind. I’m not anything like the parts I play and that’s what stretched me. I got to just play myself, I’d be damn boring and people won’t cast me. Vinay won’t call me up and say ke yaar ye role karega ki nahi. I’d be very boring so I think I’ve been very fortunate. Kuch nahi mila iss industry se, acha kaam mila hai, ache role mile hai and I think isme bhi it’s got a very unique experience and it’s a very ‘Jhatkedaar character’ Alag type ka jhatka hai ye. Mujhe mazaa aaya karte hue and also these characters are so layered na when you play boring sweet people na, layer mein mazaa hai.”
