SS Rajamouli reveals he made Bahubali Crown Of Blood, the prequel to Baahubali to challenge western monopoly on franchises and break filmmaking norms in India

MUMBAI : SS Rajamouli set a benchmark with his Pan-India movie Baahubali: The Beginning and Baahubali 2: The Conclusion. The movies gave us our first Pan-India star Prabhas who received immense love not just for his acting skills in Baahubali and its second instalment but also for all the movies that came after that as he garnered fans from the Hindi movie lovers too.

Be it the Baahubali series, Saaho, or the recently released global blockbuster 'Salaar Part 1: Ceasefire', his global popularity keeps on rising with the sensational blockbusters. Baahubali, SS Rajamouli and Prabhas are inseparable it seems, especially for the kids who love Prabhas a lot.

Well this time, SS Rajamouli is coming with a special surprise for the kids by bringing a an animated OTT series which will be available to stream from May 17th this year on Disney Plus Hotstar.

In a conversation with SS Rajamouli, the director revealed he made Bahubali Crown Of Blood, the prequel to Baahubali to challenge western monopoly on franchises and break filmmaking norms in India

SS Rajamouli said, “In the west, the standard or what you say any brand is created, it goes immediately into multiple media. It automatically happens because its quite established and when a brand is building how it can travel into different areas but India we don’t, we don’t have that. If the film does well it does well and that’s it. It finishes with that. But we didn’t want to do that. We wanted to continue but we didn’t know how to do that and we tried many many ways. We tried to create games, we tried to create a VR film, we tried to create a series, in many ways but on the process we realized the most important thing is to associate with the right people. We are expert as filmmakers but I’m not an expert in animation…so it is very important to associate with the right people so it took us sometime to find the right people. Of course, Sharad came in and he shared the vision of making animation big in India.”
