Bhonsle review: Manoj Bajpayee is the silent hero in the movie

SonyLIV’s Bhonsle is finally out, and here is the full review of the movie.

MUMBAI: After giving us some amazing content like Your Honor and Kadakh, SonyLIV is back with a very special movie titled Bhonsle, directed by Debashish Makhija. It stars Manoj Bajpayee, Santosh Juvekar, Virat Vaibhav, Ipshita, Abhishek Banerjee, and others.

The two-hour movie speaks about the love and humanity that we should have for all and has a very sweet message at the end.

The story begins with the festival of Ganpati. We see hatred all around the 'chawl' where Bhonsle, played by Manoj Bajpayee resides. He is a 60-year-old man living all alone and making efforts to rejoin the police force. Marathi people are against people from UP, and this affects the festival.

The screenplay of the movie is really very slow and you may find it a little boring up until the middle. However, the direction is good. The 'chawl' area and the characters around are portrayed very well.

Talking about the performances, Manoj Bajpayee has proved himself this time too, and his acting in the movie is raw and authentic. He is the silent hero of the movie because he hardly speaks on it. Abhishek Banerjee is decent and wins our hearts. Santosh Juvekar as Vilas is good, as is Ipshita Singh as Sita.

The positives are the storyline, which is unique, and the message on love and humanity. Manoj Bajpayee delivers a brilliant performance throughout and aces the role of Bhonsle effortlessly. You will fall in love with the character.

The negatives include the slow pace and repetitive scenes, especially the 25 minutes of the film's opening, which focus on Bhonsle's world and routine. This breaks the film's engagement. It could have been better edited. The poor screenplay may result in the audience losing its attention.

Overall, the movie is worth a watch only because of the Manoj Bajpayee and the storyline.

Team TellyChakkar goes with 2.5/5 for Bhonsle.
