Casting for Television is easier than web-series says Sonu Singh Rajput

MUMBAI: Innumerable people are responsible for making a show successful, but as actors are the face of the project, they receive the maximum appreciation.

The crew who work behind the camera endlessly often remain the unsung heroes. In a brief interview with TellyChakkar, casting director Sonu Singh Rajput, who has worked and given his heart and soul to making projects a success on television, spoke about his growth in the industry and his current projects.

Sonu has made his mark in the casting world with shows and films like Crime Alert, Bhootu, Karle Tu Bhi Mohobbat, Khamoshi, Savdhaan India, Roadies, Hum Saaf Saaf Hain, 300 episodes of Crime Patrol, and innumerable other. He is currently casting for the web series Prayag Raj and also the upcoming sequel of the 2007 hit film Anwar. He is also currently working on the new season of Savdhaan India and Crime Patrol.

Sonu reveals about his journey ''I used to work as a banker before but destiny had something else in store for me. I came to Mumbai to support my girlfriend, but as luck would have it our relationship did not work and by then I found myself another passion to look forward to. I do my work passionately where the amount of money I earn doesn't make much of a difference but quality work does.''

He goes on to tell that '' Casting for TV is entirely different from casting for web shows. It's easier to cast for TV as casting for television shows require looking for beautiful faces, whereas web series can compromise on good looks but they want a brilliant actor. The requirement in web series is more of a character-based artist.''

He shares casting for the web-series The Prayag Raj has been a special experience for him, as first time he is traveling to a outdoor location-Lucknow for his work. He cherishes working with industry veterans like Darpan Srivastava, Mukesh Tiwari, Deepshikha Nagpal on the sets of the show.

Sonu Singh Rajput affirms that ''my projects are my responsibility and I believe in working on them with honesty and 10 years down the line I want people to recognize me by the quality of my work''.
