MUMBAI : Indian Matchmaking, Netflix, docuseries premiered on Netflix on July 16, 2020, and since then it has become a huge hit. The series sees Mumbai's top matchmaker Sima Taparia finding a perfect match for the elite and wealthy individuals from the USA and India. While the show had a few couples, only one of the few participants was able to close the deal of finding his match. Akshay did get a Roka ceremony done on the show, however, he too did not tie the knot. Akshay, one of the participants who had a Roka ceremony with Radhika from Udaipur, called off his engagement.

A video shared by the OTT platform, saw Akshay putting a full stop as he couldn’t get himself to communicate with Radhika. He said, “When I met her we tried talking, till the ritual happened. The entire night I couldn’t sleep. I’m just like ‘what is going on with my life’.” Also in the show, the audiences have witnessed how Akshay was pestered by his mother to find a perfect suitor for him. At the age of 25 when the docuseries were filmed, he said, “I couldn’t even hold a conversation with this girl for five minutes.”

Adding further he adds, “So how am I supposed to spend the rest of my life with her?”

In a conversation with the Los Angeles Times, after the show premiered he was quoted saying, “A few days later, there were some things which we found out that did not go down well with us, and eventually I called it off.”

Explaining it further, how there was nothing wrong with the person, but they seem to be different people, hence he didn’t see himself spending the rest of his life with Radhika. “It’s not that there’s something wrong with the person, it’s just that we’re two completely different people, I can’t see myself spending the rest of my life with her.”

He also revealed he felt free after he took this step by opening up to his parents regarding the same. “It’s like a burden (lifted). I feel so free.
