MUMBAI :Charu Shankar was recently seen in two projects, Rocket Boys season 2 and Mrs Chatterjee Vs Norway. While in the web series she played the role of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, in the movie, she is seen playing the character of Rani Mukerji’s friend.
TellyChakkar recently interacted with Charu Shankar and spoke to her about the response she has received for both the projects, preparation she did for Rocket Boys and more...
You had two releases in just a gap of two days, Rocket Boys and Mrs Chatterjee Vs Norway. So, what response are you getting for both the projects?
Really good response! Rocket Boys of course has done so well and I am so proud to be a part of that show. Mrs Chatterjee Vs Norway is a very special film; I have completely different role in that, I am definitely not Mrs. Gandhi there. I play Rani’s friend who sort of points her in a direction, and her story takes off from there. So, totally different roles and thankfully both projects have done well, so I am happy and proud.

In Rocket Boys, you played the role of late Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. What was the most difficult part to play the role?
I feel it was probably the sequence when Pandit Nehru passes away leaving Mrs. Gandhi in a dangerous position. It was actually a dangerous position, not because she feared for her life, but because she feared for her political life which sort of meant everything to her. When I was growing up one of the books that I had read was Letters from a Father to His Daughter which was letters written by Pandit Nehru to young Indira from jail.
What kind of research do you do to portray the character?
