MUMBAI : Riya Deepsi in this exclusive interview talks about her web series Mombian – Gul & Sakshi Ki Pyaaari Si Love Story. The actress talks about the characters she is looking forward to playing on OTT platforms, her acting journey, and her take on showing bold scenes on OTT platforms.

Riya Deepsi on the characters she is looking forward to playing on OTT platforms

I am looking for characters that really interest me. I want to do characters that I can relate to as an actor. I want to connect with the character’s emotions which is the most important thing for me. I am not looking particularly for any character but if I get any role that can challenge me as an actor is welcomed. My aim is to become a versatile actor, so if any character which I feel can challenge my caliber as an actor then I would surely take it.

Riya Deepsi on her acting journey

Frankly speaking, I will not say that my struggle is over now. I think the struggle will be over when I get ten calls for the script. So for me, entering the industry was really easy, but surviving in it is the toughest part. Surviving I mean, when you start you don’t have any expectation, you go with the flow. But with the experience, comes expectation also because after a certain point you want to play a character, then there are budget issues also. So many times actors like us lose their job because either we don’t find the character interesting or sometimes the budget doesn’t work. So, I think surviving in the industry is very hard.

Riya Deepsi on showing bold scenes on OTT platforms

I believe that bold scenes are shown to titillate the audience. It is not required in the script or it is not required to show any kind of graph. I feel there should be an app where they should ask the users whether they want to see bold content or not. As I said there are many bold scenes just to attract the audience which is not required at all. I am somebody who will do the bold scenes only if it is required by the script or it is required actually to show the love. Kissing or making love to somebody is a form of passion and if you are showing the love story between two people then you have to show it. So I think if you are showing people a love journey then it has to be there.
