MUMBAI: Directing a series can bring its own set of challenges, and director Ruchi Narain candidly shares one such amusing yet demanding incident from the sets of 'Karmma Calling.' The scene in question was a sit-down dinner sequence featuring all the main characters, filled with high drama and interactions.
The unique challenge arose during a night shoot at around 4:00 am when the approaching sunrise added pressure to wrap up the scene on time. However, the comedic nature of the sequence led to uncontrollable laughter among the cast, particularly initiated by Raveena. Narain found herself in a high-pressure situation, trying to balance the humour with the urgency of completing the shoot.

Speaking about the experience, Narain explained, "It was really high pressure for me. I was sitting behind the monitor, and every time we said action and someone said their line, they would all just burst out laughing. I was worried about finishing the scene, and I had to shout at them like they were school children."
The director's strict approach was necessary to rein in the laughter and maintain the focus required to complete the scene before sunrise. Despite the challenges, such behind-the-scenes moments add a touch of reality to the filmmaking process, showcasing the intricate balance directors navigate to capture the perfect shot.
'Karmma Calling,' a series based on the U.S. original 'Revenge,' produced by R.A.T Films, is set to premiere on Disney+ Hotstar on January 26, 2024.
