MUMBAI: Trinetra Haldar Gummaraju gained renown after playing a significant part in Made in Heaven 2, a web series starring Zoya Akhtar. She is a multi-talented individual who is not just an actor but also a doctor and one of the first transgender content developers in India. She recently posted a before-and-after photo of herself on Instagram along with a lengthy statement detailing her transitional experience.

She penned, “Found this photo after over a year, and couldn’t help but weep a little. Gosh, I cringe so hard at old posts, I’ve stopped looking at them. How does one navigate celebrating a rough journey and honouring one’s past alongside anxiety around being cringe? I’m not too sure, but what I will never get over, what I can never unsee is a very particular sadness in the first photo. I’d taken those jhumkas from mom and tried them on in my boys’ hostel room. That was my comfort after a long day.”

In Made in Heaven, Trinetra had a stunning appearance. She wrote in the post that she would remember the times when it was difficult for her to obtain jewelry and makeup as she looked at numerous items while getting ready on the MIH set. As she wrote, “For 50 odd days on Made In Heaven, I sat in a HMU chair day after day, slowly forgetting how hard it was to access so much as one item of makeup or one piece of jewellery, let alone have it all visible to thousands of people. In navigating new worlds, chasing love, in finding newer and shinier versions of ourselves in cities as large as Bombay, it’s so easy to forget and dismiss our past selves. We started somewhere. That somewhere was worth something too.”

In addition to her acting profession, Trinetra has been sharing her story through her Instagram account, educating her followers on gender issues. Her most recent appearance was in Rainbow Rishta on Prime Video, which was the first unscripted docuseries in India to tell the real-life love stories and experiences of LGBTQIA+ people.
