MUMBAI: ALTT’s vertical-format content space Kutingg Hotshots recently unveiled its psychological thriller Anjaan Dastak, starring Karan Sharma and Shyn Khurana in lead roles. The show, which premiered on July 18, delivered a gripping and immersive narrative packed with suspense, mystery, and psychological tension.
Set on a stormy night, Anjaan Dastak unfolds the strange and chilling encounter between a troubled writer and a mysterious stranger. The show keeps the viewer engaged with its unpredictable plot and layered characters.
We caught up with Karan Sharma, who opened up about what drew him to the project and why he’s so passionate about the thriller genre.
Talking about the thought process behind the show, Karan shared,“As an artist, I’ve always been drawn to thriller books. In fact, because I write a little myself, this genre has always fascinated me. And when it comes to acting, it felt exactly like bringing the pages of my favorite book to life on camera.”
With thrillers currently dominating the entertainment landscape, Karan believes Anjaan Dastak brought something unique to the table, he shares, “Thrillers offer suspense, tension, and surprise all at once—and that’s what the audience craves today. What makes this show stand apart is its format, its unpredictability, and the psychological undercurrent running throughout.”
“For an actor, the screen size doesn't matter—performance does”
Anjaan Dastak was shot in a vertical format, a newer trend in storytelling. On how different it was from his previous work, Karan explained,“The vertical show is technically a bit different from other formats, but for an actor, the only goal is to bring the character to life on screen—whether the screen is big or small doesn’t really matter.”
Karan is clearly passionate about the genre, and when asked what keeps him connected to it, he said,“The thriller genre is a complete package in itself, offering the audience suspense, tension, and surprise all at once. For me, thrillers stand above all others—it’s always a rewarding experience to be part of a story that keeps viewers guessing.”
With his compelling performance and deep connection to the genre, Karan Sharma added a strong presence to Anjaan Dastak. The show continues to receive appreciation for its fast-paced narrative and gripping format, making it one of the standout launches from ALTT’s Kutingg Hotshots slate.
