Kshitee Jog on channelling strength and sensitivity in Baai Tujhyapayi

Baai Tujhyapayi

MUMBAI: In a world that often teaches women to accept, Baai Tujhyapayi dares to celebrate those who ask “why.” At the heart of this stirring ZEE5 Marathi original stands Lakshmi a mother torn between age-old traditions and her daughter’s dreams — portrayed with quiet strength and emotional depth by Kshitee Jog.

Reflecting on the show’s core message, Kshitee says, “I don’t particularly remember one specific time when I had to ask ‘why,’ but I think that’s a struggle we all go through every single day  standing our ground and asking not just ‘why,’ but also ‘why not.’ Both these questions are extremely important in today’s time, for everyone, not just women.”

For her, Baai Tujhyapayi isn’t just a story about rebellion, it’s about reflection. The series mirrors the internal battles of countless women who question not just the world, but themselves.

Kshitee reveals that one moment in particular helped her truly step into Lakshmi’s shoes. “The scene that really stayed with me is when Lakshmi finds out that her daughter has got her first period. There’s a pooja that follows an intimate moment just between Lakshmi and Ahilya, and that’s when Lakshmi says, ‘Mi tujhi shala nahi band karnaar’ (I will not stop you from going to school). That line, and that scene, set the tone for Lakshmi’s character for me.”

Shot early in the schedule, that scene became Kshitee's emotional anchor capturing Lakshmi’s turmoil, her faith, and her quiet defiance in a single moment.

Through her portrayal, Kshitee reminds us that courage doesn’t always roar. Sometimes, it’s as simple and as powerful as saying, “I will not stop you.”
