In our exclusive interview with Kay Kay Menon, Rasika Dugal, Kirti Kulhari, and Ranvir Shorey, prior to the release of their web series, Shekhar Home, on JIO Cinema, the latter three waxed lyrical on their versatile co-star, each reasoning why his name alone spells quality and attracts such viewers who crave those highly cerebral, artistic movie and shows.

Replying to the question, Ranvir Shorey said, “Mere hia=saab se toh I think it is a reward of the choices he has made as an actor. Maine bhi jab apna career shuru kiya, he was spearheading the alternative cinema ki jo movement hai tab se, toh uske baad bhi unhone jo choices ki apni films ki, matlab I find in his body of work minimal trash aur zyada se zyada filme inki hai who merit wali hai. I think that is something we can definitely vouch for.”

Rasika Duggal added, “It is also such an inspiring journey. ‘Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi’ had released in 2003 or 2004 and I was in film school at that time I remember. It was so inspiring to watch that film, to watch his performance in it, and to watch all the performances in that film. So I think that it’s been an inspiration for me atleast.”

Kirti Kulhari also added, saying that, “I think eventually your body of work speaks for you and I would say it takes a lot for an actor to wait for the right thing and do what you really believe in kyuki kai baar bohot mushkil hota hai to not give in to temptation, to not give in to the money you are being offered, to not give in to trash and to be able to sustain yourself through that and reach a point where every work you do, people look forward to it because you have created a brand which says that ‘I am serious about what I do and I do good stuff’. I have realized that audience ko manipulate karna is quite easy in that way toh only if you stand by your own thing without trying to prove anything to anybody, logon ko who samajh mein aata hai. People are also very intelligent so when they see something very genuine, they can see through you and I think that’s what sometimes people forget. So yeah I mean it’s not a surprise his (Kay Kay Menon) name goes with doing something which means something.”
