Six Bollywood films on OTT this July; what’s your pick?

Here is the list of Bollywood films releasing in July.

As more and more Hindi movies have announced their intention to go direct to digital, July has emerged as a big month for Bollywood releases on OTT. An eye-popping total of six Bollywood movies will hit various streaming platforms this month.

The first of those movies, Virgin Bhanupriya will hit ZEE5 on 16th July. Virgin Bhanupriya is a romcom that stars Urvashi Rautela and Gautam Gulati in the lead.

Next to release on OTT will be the much awaited Dil Bechara, which will arrive on Disney Plus Hotstar on 24th July. It is a fan favourite as it is a dear departed star, Sushant Singh Rajput’s last film.

Omerta, Hansal Mehta’s keenly anticipated movie starring Rajkummar Rao as a dreaded terrorist, will premiere on ZEE5 on 25th July.

Finally, 31st July will see two movies vying for audience eyeballs – Vidya Balan’s Shakuntala Devi, and Kunal Kemmu’s comedy caper, Lootcase. Shakuntala Devi premieres on Amazon Prime Video, while Lootcase will arrive on Disney Plus Hotstar. Both are part of a bouquet of high-profile releases bagged by the two streaming giants.

Lootcase starring Kunal Kemmu, Ranvir Shorey, Gajraj Rao, and Rasika Dugal has got a release date and will premiere on the streaming platform Disney+ Hotstar on July 31.

Ever since the direct to digital wave hit OTT space, a spate of movies have skipped theatrical release and streamed on major streaming platforms. But there’s one little detail that stands out about all the digital releases that have happened until now – almost all those movies have been from regional film industries – Tamil, Telugu, and Malayalam. There was just one major Bollywood release – Gulabo Sitabo – in the interim, while numerous regional movies have released and made a mark.

It’s now the turn of Bollywood to make noise on OTT.
