MUMBAI :Talat Aziz is one of the most renowned singers we have in the industry, but not many would know that he is also an actor and has been a part of a few films and TV shows. He will next be seen in Gulmohar which stars Shamila Tagore and Manoj Bajpayee in the lead roles.

TellyChakkar recently interacted with Talat Aziz and spoke to him about his role in Gulmohar, his experience of working with Sharmila Tagore and more...

Tell us something about your role in Gulmohar.

I have got a very special role. Rahul Chittella, the director, had come to meet me and he told me that we would love you to play this character and there’s a song also which we would like you to sing, you are the best person to enact the character and sing it. It’s a cameo but it’s a very important role. My role is of a family friend of the Batra family. Also, I can tell you one more thing clearly that the song has come out very well and through the song Rahul has done a wonderful job.

How was your experience of working with Sharmila Tagore?

I have been one of the greatest fans of Sharmila ji since Aaradhna and my favorite film of hers is Safar. When we met on the sets, she was like, ‘How are you? We haven't seen each other for a long time. I was very comfortable with her; she was a very down to earth and graceful lady. In a scene, I am sitting and singing a song, and she told me, ‘adjust your jacket’. So, I was like kamaal hai she notices all these things for continuity. She is a lovely person and we hit it off so well.

Talat Aziz further revealed about the compliment he got from Sharmila Tagore

Sharmila ji called me the other day and she asked me if I have seen the film. So, I told her I haven’t seen it; she told me, ‘go and see it, you have done a wonderful job’. She told me that I am natural and should do more roles. I told her that’s a great compliment, thank you.

Gulmohar will premiere on Disney + Hotstar on 3rd March 2023.
