MUMBAI: Amazon Prime’s one of the much-awaited shows was a political thriller, titled Tandav, this series ever since the trailer was out, was the talk of the town for its stellar and endless cast, and the twisted plot dealing with politics, this9 episodic series stars some ensemble and an endless bunch of talents like Saif Ali Khan, Dimple Kapadia, Mohd. Zeeshan Ayyub, Sunil Grover, Kritika Kamra, Sarah Jane Dias, Kritika Avasthi, Dino Morea, Annup Sonii, Kumud Mishra, Gauahar Khan, Sandhya Mridul, Hitten Ttejwani, Amyra Dastur, Tigmanshu Dhulia, Paresh Pahuja, and a few others and Created and directed by Ali Abbas Zafar and produced by Himanshu Kishan Mehra and Ali Abbas Zafar.
The plot of this political thriller begins with a mysterious murder of the PM of the nation, Devki Nandan played by talented Tigmanshu Dhulia and later how his son Samar Pratap Singh (Saif Ali Khan) and others trying to win the chair of the PM, in this race to win the chair of the PM, what these characters do and till what extent they go is shown in the form of Tandav, there several subplots to the main plot dealing with different characters which are directly or indirectly linked with the main plot of the series.
The screenplay of the series poorly written, the series takes a good start, but as the series moves ahead it dips down more and more, also there are several scenes that were not required, and the direction of the series very much decent.

Talking about the performances, then let us tell you, the only character who out with his amazing performance is Sunil Grover as Gurpal Chauhan, as the right hand of Samar Pratap Singh, the actor is seen in never seen before avatar an in the intense role and whenever he comes on screen surely takes away the lamplight, on the other hands it was treated to watch Saif Ali Khan, Dimple Kapadia and Mohd. Zeeshan Ayyub on their part as they too were good, where these actors were the highlights of the show, names like Kritika Kamra, Sarah Jane Dias, Kritika Avasthi, Dino Morea, Annup Sonii, Gauahar Khan, Sandhya Mridul, Hitten Tejwani were underutilized in the series, these talented names had hardly anything to offer in the series.
The positive points of the show can be the premise and the plot, which was badly executed, also as mentioned earlier the performance of Sunil Grover is the highlight of the show, apart from him Saif, Dimple Kapadia and Mohd. Zeeshan Ayyub was decent to be seen as the plus points of the series, the BGM of the series plays a very important role in crafting the suspense and manages to hold your attention.
The negative points of the series are mainly the poor execution of the plot, the screenplay of the series is a major let down, and you may feel bored many a times in between, there are also many subplots on the movie, few were decent to relate but few felt not necessary, and surely makes the series more complex, and another big let-down of the series is the few talented names which had nothing much to offer in the series, they brought some excitement as we saw them in the trailer but they had hardly anything to offer in the series. Also, the story revolving around politics is the same thing we have seen all this while in many Bollywood movies and had nothing exceptional here.
In spite of all these negative points, the performances of the few leads mentioned above manage to hold your attention in pieces, and you will get to see a very average political thriller in the name of “Tandav”.
