MUMBAI: Netflix’s superhero series The Umbrella Academy is coming with the second season set to stream on July 31. After last season’s catastrophic failure to prevent an apocalypse, there was no hope for a season renewal. But the latest teaser dropped by Netflix shows the superheros time travelling to the 1960s. The show follows the antics of the children of Sir Reginald Hargreeves, all of whom possess unique powers.

The Umbrella Academy is based on the comic series of the same name by writer Gerard Way and artist Gabriel Bá. According to reports, the first season followed the first volume of the comic series titled, Apocalypse Suite. Similarly, as seen in the teaser Season 2 sends the superheros to the city that is mentioned in second volume in the series called Dallas in Texas, USA. If the show follows the comic book series exactly, Season 2 will see the superheros attempting to change the course of history and prevent the end of the world by assassinating John F Kennedy (former US President).
Since the teaser does not give out much of the storyline, whether they will stick to the books or not we are yet to find out. Perhaps, the series will overtake the books in the end like Game of Thrones did towards the end.
The Umbrella Academy stars Ellen Page, Tom Hopper, David Castañeda, Robert Sheehan, and Emmy Raver-Lampman, who were seen in the first season. New cast members include Yusuf Gatewood, Ritu Arya, and Marin Ireland.
