MUMBAI: Undekhi had spring out of nowhere on Sony LIV 4 years ago, and soon developed a cult following, with some, including this film critic, going as far as to hail as the OTT platform's best show and among the greatest web series ever produced in the country. Season 2 was also highly acclaimed, without meeting the lofty standards of its predecessor. Now comes Undekhi season 3, which not only matches the first season, put somewhere, somehow, cranks things up a notch
The battle of wits between Surya Sharma aka Rinku Singh and Harsh Chhaya aka Papaji's lawlessness and toxic entitlement vs. Anchal Singh aka Teji and Dibyendu Bhattacharya aka DSP Barun Ghosh's quest for some semblance of justice and order in the face of insurmountable odds lands the same punches, but makes your blood boil even more than before, especially whenever you feel the protagonists are again coming up short in front of the antagonist's devious and ruthless plots.
Sidharth Sengupta and Varun Badola's writing again scores a nigh perfect ten as does Ashish R. Shukla's direction and the polished editing, camerawork, product design, and background score. The only minor gripe could be that the third season, like with most other seasons of both Indian and foreign shows, could've been trimmed by an episode or 2. This is something that Undekhi season 1 still has no rival for at least in the Indian domain.
Backing up all the good and great, of which the season has no shortage of are Surya Sharma, Harsh Chhaya, Anchal Singh, Dibyendu Bhattacharya, and Ankur Rathee as also the new additions and supporting players, who collectively once again deliver one heck of an ensemble performance. To sum things up, Undekhi 3 is a brilliant continuation of what makes this show one of India's top 10 web series ever.
