MUMBAI: Even though Ali Fazal has recently been appearing in a lot of Hollywood productions, his Mirzapur character Guddu is still a fan favourite in India. One of the most popular shows in India is the Prime Video series. Ali said in a recent conversation that he was first offered the character of Munna, which Vikrant Massey ultimately played. While working on Mirzapur, he also talked about his "biggest insecurity" on set.

In a recent interview, Ali revealed that he decided to work on Guddu because he thought he could do more, despite his opinion that Munna was a more author-backed character.
He shared, “I wasn’t even offered Guddu first, I was offered Munna. I said this is a very author backed role and it’s a great role but I think I can bring something more to this (Guddu.)”
He went on to say that he nearly got into a fight with his director about Guddu's appearance since he could not picture the character having a full head of hair.
He mentioned, “For Guddu, I had to almost fight with my director at the time that I don’t see him having hair.”
Additionally, he disclosed that he changed his diet and increased his physical activity instead of using protein shakes or any other supplements because he had to gain weight for the part. He mentioned, “My most boring time in my life was working out for Mirzapur. I couldn’t sleep. We would work out for three hours everyday and while doing that, you have to maintain your peace because we are creators. I refused using wrong means.”
Ali claimed that he felt a little uneasy on the first day when he stepped onto the site. He said, “My biggest insecurity became the coolest thing about Mirzapur, which was that I always felt I was not ready with my body so I started hunching and I would be very insecure. First time I walked on the set, the director praised my walk. He said ‘genius, keep it’. But where is it coming from? Everyone is constantly watching you.”
