Vikramjeet Virk talks about his big screen debut

Vikramjeet Virk

The good looking Vikramjeet Virk who left us all impressed with his act in Shobha Somnath Ki, Mahadev Aryaan and more has now bagged a film. Rudhramadevi, the Malayam flick also stars Anushka Shetty, Allu Arjun and Rana Daggubati.

This is first ever historical 3D movie to be ever released in India based on true facts and events.

Vikramjeet would be seen playing the antagonist, Mahadeva Nayakudu.

The actor gets chatty with Tellychakkar.com as he shares more about his film....

How did you move to regional movie?

When I moved into Acting I heard a lot about South Indian cinema. Somewhere I wanted to work with them. And one fine day I got a call for my first Malyalam movie, Casanova with super star, Mohan Lal. From there my journey started in regional cinema, and for me language is not a thing. I always want to play different characters in different languages.

What types of roles or character you personally love to do?

I personally love to do negative roles, and I’m very much happy with the kind of roles I’m playing. I always wanted to play larger than life characters, different from one another. I’m thankful to god he has always blessed me.

Tell us more about your character in Rudhramadevi?

My character in Rudhramadevi is that of king “Mahadeva Nayakudu”, who rules over the 'kingdom of Devagiri'. He is the main antagonist of the story. Since his childhood he was very aggressive by nature. His dislike and anger based on an incident that happened during his childhood, made him more unforgiving and ruthless as he grew up. His sole purpose in life was to fight and win over Rudhramadevi’s kingdom.

Was there something specific that director Gunasekar was looking for 'Mahadeva Nayakudu' character?

Absolutely. As you can see he was for sure looking for someone who was tall, well built, a good horse rider - basically someone who could  carry the persona of a King. I would like to believe being a good actor on top of all these traits helped me bag this character. Actually my director Gunasekhar saw one of my videos where I did a live act in an event where I was horse riding as “Mehmood Ghaznavi”. Based on that, he further saw some more videos of mine while essaying “Mehmood Ghaznavi” on screen. After watching them, I think he was convinced that I was the right choice for Mahadeva Nayakudu.

Did you do some specific workshop or training for the same?

Yes I did. I had to gain almost 10 - 12 kgs for the role. Since the weapon that I used in the film weighed about 10 -12 kgs, I had to do lot of training for my action sequences with the weapon.

Where do you see yourself after few years?

Like any other actor, my main goal is to get appreciated for my work and to be able to touch the heart of all the viewers. Having said this, I want to explore myself more as an actor and do strong projects which leaves my impact on all.  Whether I play a protagonist or an antagonist, people should wait for my movies.

Any Bollywood movie in pipeline?

There are couple of projects that I am looking at and I’m waiting for right one to start.

Rudramadevi is releasing on 9th of October. The movie would be releasing in both Telugu and Hindi.
