3D format of Sholay will have a mash up of four of its songs

Ramesh Sippy’s iconic movie Sholay is being brought back in the 3D format (3D) to make it appealing to today’s youth who either must have missed to see this film on the 70 mm screen or must be longing to see the magic all over again in the new format. Now, if the format is new why not the best song in the film ‘Mehbooba o Mehbooba’ be upgraded. Thinking this the makers decided to remix and launch the classic dance number that featured Jalal Agha and Helen. They were of the feeling that this would not only make the song more exciting but also appeal the youth. It is said that in their meeting with Salim-Javed for the trailer launch of the movie the makers discussed the idea with the duo. They were of the opinion that ‘Mehbooba’ being an evergreen hit, the song original song should remain as it is. The remix version will only disturb the glory of the sassy dance number of Helen, they felt. So the makers came up with an idea of creating a mash up of the four songs of the movie. They will be using the mash up for the promotional and marketing purposes. Commented PEN head honcho Jayantilal Gada, "Since we want the entire cast of Sholay to happily be a part of our 3D initiative, we decided to drop the idea of remixing Mehbooba and made a mash up of four songs." The 3D version will be hitting the silver screen on 3 January.
