MUMBAI: The media has focused a lot of attention on Aamir Khan's son, Junaid Khan, because of the controversy surrounding his first movie, Maharaj. As he thought back on the film, Junaid said that his father, Aamir Khan, had seen it and enjoyed it a few months earlier.

He informed the news agency that if he seeks advice from his father, “He (Aamir) normally lets us do what we want to do unless we ask for something very specific; then he gives advice. But he liked the film. Kuch mahino pehle dekhi thi unhone film aur unko kaafi pasand aayi (He saw the film a few months ago and he liked it).”

He added, “He normally tends to give very good advice but otherwise, he doesn’t get involved in… he lets his kids be.”

Junaid, born to Aamir and his first wife, Reena Dutta, plays the role of Karsandas Mulji, a journalist and social reformer in the film. Set in pre-independent India, Maharaj is a period drama based on the Maharaj Libel Case of 1862. The film was produced by Aditya Chopra under YRF Entertainment and directed by Siddharth P Malhotra.

After receiving accolades for his performance, Junaid thanked everyone for the excellent response the film received and stated, “I am grateful for the by and large positive response that Maharaj has received. So yeah, it’s quite satisfying. I guess all is well that ends well.”

In addition, Shalini Pandey, Jaideep Ahlawat, and Sharvari Wagh make a cameo appearance in the movie. Maharaj is a tribute to Karsandas Mulji, one of India's most renowned social reformers, according to YRF Entertainment.

Netflix released the movie Maharaj on its platform on June 21. The initial release date of the movie was June 14. However, the Gujarat High Court issued a stay order just hours before the film was supposed to premiere, which caused the release to be delayed.
