The emotional depth of the film resonated strongly with audiences and critics alike.
Directed by Shoojit Sircar, I Want To Talk tells the poignant story of Arjun Sen, a Bengali man living abroad, who is intensely focused on achieving the American dream.
His life is brutally interrupted when he receives a terminal diagnosis, learning that he has only 100 days left to live.
The narrative beautifully follows his desperate and emotional attempt to reconcile and reconnect with his estranged seven-year-old daughter before his time runs out.
Sharing his gratitude for the project, Abhishek penned a sincere note on Instagram, expressing how meaningful the experience was for him personally and professionally.
He wrote, "One year of I Want To Talk, and I'm genuinely grateful for every story, every silence, and every honest conversation it brought my way.
This journey has taught me more about people and myself than I expected. Thank you for listening, for sharing, and for allowing a simple idea to become something meaningful."
The Filmfare win for this performance was particularly significant, arriving after 25 years in the motion picture industry.
During his emotional acceptance speech for the accolade, which he shared with another actor, Abhishek reflected on his long career journey.
He revealed that he had rehearsed his speech countless times over the years, calling the award a "long-held aspiration."
He noted, "I am incredibly touched and honoured by this moment. Receiving it in the presence of my family makes it even more meaningful."
This monumental achievement solidifies his status as a celebrated, seasoned performer who continues to evolve and select roles with immense substance.
