Earlier, we had reported that Akshay Kumar would make his presence felt at Edgbaston where India were to take on arch rival Pakistan in a crucial match of the ongoing Champions Trophy last Friday.
Once on the ground, the star created a mass frenzy. The only Bollywood face seen at the venue of the historic India-Pakistan match, was the cynosure of all eyes when he descended on the Stadium accompanied by CEO, Balaji Motion Pictures Tanuj Garg and a non-industry friend.
The association of the forthcoming Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai Dobara (OUATIM) with the ICC Champion's Trophy, that was organised by Balaji Motion Pictures, was a first-of-its-kind, with not a single film or star managing such an integration other than OUATIM Dobara.
"The actor's character (Shoaib) is a cricket fanatic in the film, which explains why the producers decided to send him for this match. Even the opening shot of the film's trailer sees his character attending an India-Pakistan match. The India-Pakistan match was the best platform to garner visibility," avers a source close to the film.
On reaching the stadium at 10.30 am, Kumar was ushered straight in to the ICC Hospitality Enclosure from where he saw the match. Those seated in the stadium and the millions watching the match on television were treated to multiple shots of Akshay enjoying the on-field 'war', as the cameras panned on him.
