Akshay Kumar’s Laxmmi Bomb to have a digital release? Fans trend ‘WANT LAXMMIBOMB IN THEATRES’ on Twitter

MUMBAI: Owing to the Coronavirus lockdown, the cinema halls have been shut down to maintain social distancing and curb the spread of the virus. Amidst all this, many fans have been eagerly waiting for Akshay Kumar’s film Laxmmi Bomb to hit theatres. As films Gulabo Sitabo, Shakuntala Devi and Ghoomketu are set to release on OTT platforms, it was reported that Akshay’s film Laxmmi Bomb might take the digital route and skip the theatrical release. Now, as the news hit headlines, upset fans took to social media to trend ‘WANT LAXMMIBOMB IN THEATRES’, asking for a theatrical release.

As per a Mid-Day report, a source close to the development revealed that Akshay Kumar, director Raghava Lawrence and the producers are discussing the offer to release Laxmmi Bomb on Disney Hotstar+.  The source continued that a lot of post-production work is left on the movie since the team is working from home, and mentioned that the process is taking longer than usual. As the makers are trying to have the film done by June, understanding the current scenario, the insider dished out that the team may consider having a direct-to-web release. The source further said, “Akshay wants to make sure none of the invested parties makes losses, and that the movie reaches a wide audience. While Disney+Hotstar ensures a worldwide reach, making the film available across small towns in India will be a concern for them."
