MUMBAI: Amitabh Bachchan revealed that he and his son, actor Abhishek Bachchan, along with a few friends watched Kalki 2898 AD. Amitabh Bachchan plays Ashwatthama in the film, disclosed that he saw the movie in a Mumbai IMAX theatre. He also mentioned that he hasn't gone to see a movie in a long time. Big B also uploaded pictures from his movie date.

Amitabh revealed on his blog that he had just finished his Sunday session of meeting fans outside Jalsa's gate when he went to a theatre in the city. He admitted that he had watched the movie for the first time on Sunday and had not seen the final cut of the film. He shared his views after noticing that his posters from The Great Gatsby were being installed.

“A Sunday of Sundays .. the well wishers at GOJ and then to Kalki with some friends to see on big screen .. seeing film for first time .. and the experience of an IMAX, and the facilities and environ at the theatre .. so impressive , the elegance and aesthetics in the facility .. had not been out for years .. but so satisfying to be out to witness all the progress,” Amitabh wrote on his blog.

“Gatsby .. and son fooling around .. and the IDFC bank ad., that Abhishek and I did .. so much to say .. but its getting to 5:16 am .. and Shujaat Hussain Khan on repeat .. ऐ री सखी, पिया घर आये अहह aha ha .. one does not wish the night to end .. just the , the emotion the singing and his sitar together .. aaahh .. music .. the chord that connects us to the Almighty .. sublime,” he added.

Amitabh Bachchan appeared to have gone to watch the film with just his son. His other family members — Jaya Bachchan, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Aaradhya Bachchan, Shweta Bachchan, Agastya Nanda and Navya Naveli Nanda — were missing in the pictures.

In the Nag Ashwin-directed film, Big B starred alongside Prabhas, Deepika Padukone, and Kamal Haasan. In just four days, the movie has already brought in an estimated Rs 500 crores at the box office worldwide.

The superstar's performance has received praise from fans. Amitabh Bachchan has previously stated that Nag Ashwin's idea for the movie and for him had caught him by surprise. During a press conference held to promote the film, Amitabh admitted that the idea of Kalki 2898 AD surprised him.

“When Nag Ashwin came and explained his idea to me, for the long time after he left I was thinking, ‘what the hell is Nagi drinking?’” Amitabh said, leaving Rana and his other co-stars in splits.

“To see something like this which is absolutely outrageous, some of the visuals that you have seen are unbelievable. To have somebody conceive a project which is so futuristic and possible… and during the making of the film you realise that no matter what he thought of he actually brought all the material, all the effects, every kind of vision that he had to the screen and that’s been really amazing. For me to be just a part of it, has been an experience I’ll never forget,” he added.
