MUMBAI: Ever since the release of Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2, filmmaker Anees Bazmee has been all the hype for his great projects and direction. He is known for many comedy classics like No Entry, Welcome, Singh Is King, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2, and more. Now the filmmaker is hoping to start working on his next big project and has been on the lookout for who will star in the film. According to new reports, Shahid Kapoor has been finalised to collaborate with the filmmaker on his next big comedy entertainer.

A source close to the project divulged, “Anees and Shahid is a collaboration that was always meant to happen. It’s a proper commercial comic entertainer and Shahid is excited to enter the world of Anees Bazmee cinema. The film in question will be Bazmee’s immediate next film and will kick off in the first quarter of 2023.” He further added that, Anees is excited to explore the comedic side of Shahid.

Other than Anees’s next film with Shahid Kapoor, he has even finalised another film with a top B-town actor, which will begin production close to the end of next year, but more details are still unconfirmed. Reports by a media portal earlier stated that the second film will be a superhero comedy. Recent reports suggest that Vicky Kaushal was seen walking out of an Anees Bazmee film, but according to sources, the actor was interested to feature in a comical film with the director, but it didn’t work out because of the dates.

The source said, “Anees was poised to do a film in the time frame when Vicky was free. When the dates finally didn’t work out, Anees promised Vicky another film and decided to move on with other work. His platter is currently occupied with the two films, and once they are out of his system, he will then proceed to other projects. Vicky and Anees film will happen at a later stage.” Earlier reports had even suggested that producer Firoz Nadiadwala was keen to bring Anees Bazmee on to direct Hera Pheri 3. There has also been talks of making Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3. The source further added, “After Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2, the Kartik Aaryan and Anees pairing is in demand. While Anees will reunite with Kartik but is not sure if it would be on Hera Pheri 3 or Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3. However, it's clear that he will be directing just one of the two franchise films.”

As of today, Anees’ next project is expected to be a high-value comedy entertainer starring Shahid Kapoor and following this will come a superhero comedy with a young, but popular actor. His future projects and steps are yet to be decided after he finishes work on these two films. On the other hand, Shahid is completing filming for an untitled love story by Dinesh Vijan, and the remake of Mumbai Police, after which he will move on to the Anees Bazmee directorial.
