MUMBAI: Actor and film producer Armaan Jain, the son of Raj Kapoor’s daughter Rima Jain, recently spoke about the incredible strength and unity of the extended Kapoor clan, affirming that the ability to overcome adversity is a generational trait.
In an interview discussing his new show, Dining With the Kapoors, which celebrates the family’s traditions and honours Raj Kapoor's legacy.
Armaan was asked how the family coped with difficult times, referencing specific past incidents like the passing of Karisma Kapoor's ex-husband, Sunjay Kapur, and the knife attack on Saif Ali Khan (who is married to Kareena Kapoor Khan).

Armaan emphasised that throughout every triumph and tragedy, the family’s primary coping mechanism is to stand together.
He explained that this sense of solidarity began with his grandparents, Raj Kapoor and Krishna Kapoor, and continues to define the entire clan.
He was quoted as saying, "In times good and bad, the Kapoor family are very strong for each other.
We come together as an army. That started with the Raj Kapoor–Krishna Kapoor era, and I have seen that pass on to my mum. She will always have a smiling face."
Armaan noted that the family has recently faced numerous challenges and losses, which have been "very tragic and difficult."
However, he stressed that their inherited fortitude allows them to navigate these situations with grace.
He concluded that the trait of quickly recovering and adapting is fundamental to their identity, stating, "Bouncing back is a completely part of our DNA. It’s a generational thing."
He cited the example of his grandfather, Raj Kapoor, who faced an enormous financial and emotional setback after the failure of his ambitious film Mera Naam Joker, which was reportedly "way ahead of its time" and one of the biggest disasters of that period.
Despite losing nearly everything, Raj Kapoor rallied and bounced back with the massive success of Bobby. Armaan credits this foundational resilience and commitment to family as the source of the clan’s enduring strength.
