MUMBAI: In October 2021, Shahrukh Khan’s son Aryan Khan’s arrest at a Mumbai cruise shocked fans and celebs. He was arrested for consumption and conspiracy in a drug raid by the NCB (Narcotics Control Bureau), which was headed by Sameer Wankhede. There was a lot of probing into the case, and Khan spent nearly a month in Arthur Road Jail in October.
Now, as per latest reports, NCB’s legal advisor Japan Babu has filed a defamation case against ex-NCB official Sameer Wankede in the Delhi Magistrate court, Patiala House. The case has been filed for using his audio clip for the petition that claimed Aryan’s name was removed from the chargesheet at the last minute. The transcript of the conversation was produced by the 2008 batch IRS office, to prove that he was correct in taking SRK’s son into custody during the Cordelia cruise raid and that Aryan Khan was not ‘Charge-sheeted by the NCB SIT for external reasons.
As per the report, the ILS (Indian Legal Service) officer, Babu in his petition mentioned that it was brought to his notice that Sameer, in his anticipatory bail had ‘malafidely’ claimed that he, through a phone call on 2nd June 2022, let him know that the charges were proposed against Aryan in the original draft complaint prepared by him. This draft, however, was never submitted in court, which gave Khan the clean chit. For the unversed, Wankhede’s petition had quoted Babu from the recorded conversation.
