So we have managed to unearth the name of yet another actress who would be making her Bollywood debut with Madhur Bhandarkar's Calendar Girl. And this one happens to be south actress Avani Modi.
Calendar Girls revolves around the story of five models who become famous after being featured in famous swimsuit calendars. Five newcomers have been chosen to essay the lead roles. Tellychakkar.com had broken the news of models Ruhi Singh and Satarupa Pyne being a part of Calendar Girls. Subsequently names of south actress Akanksha Puri and Kingfisher calendar girl Kyra Dutt started doing the rounds as the other two actress to have bagged the prestigious project.
Now we have learnt through a close hand that Avani Modi is the latest one to have been cast thereby completing the starcast of five. Avani who is from Gujarat has already acted in Tamil film called Naan Rajavagha Pogirin and Calendar Girls will be her big Bollywood debut.
When we rang up and congratulated Avani for her Bollywood debut, the actress was taken aback and asked us, "Did Madhur sir tell you this?"
On answering her question in negative, Avani said, "I have not signed the film. I have been approached. The film is still not complete yet. It would be better if you talk to Madhur sir. I am still in talks with them. They are still looking for girls. I think they have only finalized three or four girls. They need five girls."
Although Avani insists that only three to four girls have been chosen, it may well be remembered that the makers of the movie had released a picture that had five models posing in a golden bikini with their faces cleverly hidden under a hat. The source who we spoke to revealed that the fourth girl from left in the picture (published above) was Avani. When we asked Avani about the same, the pretty lass replied, "They say they have finalized but I think the auditions were still going on till last month along with the look test. But I am not there in the picture that you are referring to. It's not me."
