MUMBAI : Casting directors play an important role in the creation of any project, be it for big or small screens or even for OTT. They are one who finds the perfect face which suits a particular character and the one who will do justice to the role.
The field of casting is rapidly growing and more and more people are interested in getting into this field to make their way into the entertainment industry.
We have seen how any project becomes a hit, all the credit goes to the writers, directors, actors but no one credits a casting director who gave a chance to the actors.
We have one such casting director Girdhar Swami who has been in the industry for several years and managed to create a name for himself.
Girdhar's recent major casting was done for a multi-starrer film Welcome To The Jungle.
In a recent interaction with TellyChakkar, he spoke about several things related to his casting journey, experience with the actors and much more.

Talking about his experience while casting for Welcome To The Jungle, he said, ''It was not an easy task as I had to work with such great actors. It was really hard.''
When asked if he had considered several options before finalising the actors, he said, ''Yes, I had several options and considered many actors. It wasn't an easy task to get everyone's date together.''
Girdhar revealed that he is currently casting for two movies and one web show. The details about these projects are not disclosed yet.
Shedding some light on his casting journey, Girdhar said, ''My journey has been terrific so far. I had done the casting of Yaariyaan 2 last year. I gave many actors a break. I also gave a break to news actors in Babumoshai Bandookbaaz, Calendar Girls, Indu Sarkar, India Lockdown.''
Girdhar also revealed that when actors get famous after their first break, they forget who gave them a chance.
The popular casting director is currently working with Firoz Nadiadwala.
He reveals he has 3 to 4 people under him who helps him with the casting.
Revealing an approximate time a particular project takes for casting is 3 to 4 months depending on the type of a movie or an OTT show.
When asked about his views on nepotism and star kids getting a chance, he said, ''I feel that one should have full faith in themself. If you have talent, you will get work and succeed. If you have full faith that you're a good actor, someone will give you a break. And if you lose your goal of seeing the glamorous side of the entertainment industry, then you will never succeed.''
Revealing his experience with the star kids, he said, ''They are very humble and have no starry tantrums. I believe a person who belongs to such prestigious families is very well brought up and is very respectable. In fact, the newcomers show such attitude as they feel they have already succeeded.''
Lastly, when asked what he would like to tell the aspiring casting directors, he said, ''I think 90% of the actors get into casting so that later they can become actors. I would like to tell them to be focussed in what they want to become at the end.''
He added, ''When I cast someone, I don't see where the person belongs to, I cast the actor on the basis of his talent. My thinking is very different. This is why I am still doing well in this field. I don't differentiate between people.''

He has worked with prominent directors from the industry like Raj Kumar Hirani, Prabhudeva, David Dhawan, Bejoy Nambiar, Madhur Bhandarkar, Radhika Rao and Vinay Sapru, Sriram Raghavan, Ahmed Khan and the list goes on.
