Sex and SRK sells. The makers of the movie 'Yeh Hain Bakrapur' seems to have exploited this old adage to the hilt. No, they have neither sex nor King Khan in the movie. But in a smart move aimed at garnering maximum publicity, the makers have named a goat in the movie as 'Shahrukh' who also happens to be the protagonist of the film. And the effects are there for all to see. Just two weeks after the release of its first trailer, the movie has registered a mind boggling 1 million views on YouTube.
The movie is written and directed by Janaki Vishwanathan who had earlier directed the National Award winning film Kutty. The director sounded happy at the response the trailer has received. "1 Million views for the Yeh Hai Bakrapur trailer, is a landmark number for us. This is huge. We have always been sure of our film, but that it would reach this number, and that too, so soon, is just overwhelming. Shahrukh has surely been special for us.”
Yeh Hai Bakrapur revolves around the Qureshi family and their pet goat Shahrukh and is set against the rural political background of the village of Bakrapur. The movie promises to take viewers through a rib-tickling, roller coaster journey of twists and turns.
Produced by Ramesh Sriivatsava Aruunachalam, Yeh Hai Bakrapur is slated to release on 25th April.
What however is not clear is whether the makers have obtained the permission of Shah Rukh Khan before using his name in the film. The publicity material designed for the film too states 'Shahrukh starrer' which clearly outlines the intention of the makers to create a buzz using SRK's name.
We tried contacting SRK's publicist Mandvi Sharma and SRK's business manager Karuna Badwal for a reaction on the same.
But both remained unavailable for comment.
