The era of making biopics that saw a new light in Bollywood with The Dirty Picture continued with Paan Singh Tomar, and now Bhaag Milkha Bhaag is ruling the roost in the box office.
The latest film personality to jump the biopic bandwagon is Barkha Roy, actress Reena Roy's sister and film producer.
The lady has plans to bring late Indian painter M F Hussain's colourful life on to the film canvas. The producer, who had met the renowned painter 10 years ago and it was then that Hussain had expressed his wish to work with her someday.
"Unfortunately, that couldn't happen, but I wanted to honour my commitment and there couldn't be a better way to do that than film his life journey for his millions of fans," Barkha said in a statement.
Divulging on the ensuing project, Barkha said that the project My Friend Hussain would be an out-and-out one hour and 10 minutes long commercial film.
“It's Hussain's journey with friends. And all big artists like SH Raza, Kishan Khanna and Ram Kumar have all spoken about the great painter.
The film will be released in September, around the time of Hussain sahab's birthday (birth anniversary). It's my tribute to the great painter and I want the world to see his personal side," added Barkha.
Incidentally, Barkha has produced two films till now, Sanam Teri Kasam in 1982 and Karishmaa in1984.
